5. If ARK GENESIS is focused on sustainability, why do you use plastic packaging?

At ARK GENESIS, sustainability is at the heart of our mission — from our eco-friendly Ecoryllium™ jig heads to our ongoing efforts to minimise environmental impact.

During our early product batches, we weren't able to secure a fully sustainable packaging option, and to keep our prices affordable while covering the high costs of product development and precision engineering, we were left with little option but to start with a predominantly recyclable plastic-based packaging solution.

This allowed us to deliver an elite product at a fair price while we continue to grow.

That said, we are actively working on transitioning to fully sustainable packaging options that better align with our environmental values.

In the meantime, we are working to partner with Rig Recycle, an initiative that collects and responsibly recycles used fishing tackle packaging — including our current plastic-based packs.

You can find their collection bins at selected breakwalls and fishing spots, and we strongly encourage our customers to use them.

We appreciate your support and understanding as we evolve toward even more sustainable practices.

6. Where are ARK GENESIS products made?

ARK GENESIS is proudly Australian-owned and based on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales.

As a small, self-funded startup, we bring together over 150 years of combined fishing experience — including contributions from some of the sport’s most respected legends — along with more than 20 years of precision engineering expertise.

Our products are developed with a focus on innovation, durability, and environmental responsibility, driven by a deep passion for fishing and a commitment to quality.

While some components — such as our trusted Mustad hooks — are sourced globally to ensure the highest quality, all product development, testing, and final assembly are proudly carried out by our team in New South Wales.

7. Why is ARK GENESIS packaging designed differently to other brands and what is ThumbSmart?

At ARK GENESIS, we’ve reimagined jig head packaging with real-world angler frustrations in mind.

How many times have you gone to grab a jig head in the heat of the moment, only to have the entire pack flip open and your gear scatter across the rocks?

To solve this, we created a design feature we call ThumbSmart. Each jig head is individually divided within the pack, allowing you to place your thumb on the jig head below the one you want, apply light pressure, and lift the lid without others falling out. It's a simple, clever solution to an all-too-common annoyance.

We’ve also carefully sized our packaging to suit all of our current jig head models, which helps keep costs and waste down — allowing us to focus on delivering cutting-edge jig head performance without passing unnecessary packaging costs on to you.

It’s all part of our commitment to smart design, durability, and putting the angler’s experience first.

8.  Will you have coloured variants of your jig heads?

Yes! We currently have a range of coloured variants in development. These new additions are being carefully engineered to retain the elite performance and balance our jig heads are known for, while adding colour options tailored for specific water conditions and species preferences. Stay tuned — colour is coming soon!

9. Why are some of your products out of stock, and when will new stock arrive?

As a small start-up dedicated to precision engineering and elite performance, each of our products undergoes careful development to meet the highest standards. This means we don’t rush production — we refine it. At times, this may result in short periods where stock is unavailable, particularly during early launch stages. New stock is typically completed every 4 weeks, depending on development timelines. We appreciate your patience as we build something exceptional from the ground up.

Ecoryllium™ Specific – Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Ecoryllium™?

Ecoryllium™ is a proprietary, 100% lead-free metal alloy developed by ARK GENESIS™. It’s a non-toxic, eco-friendly alternative to traditional jig head materials like lead or tungsten, designed to outperform them in strength, casting control, sink rate, and underwater action.

2. What makes Ecoryllium™ different from other non-lead alternatives?

Unlike generic non-lead options, Ecoryllium™ is the result of a highly specialised engineering process. Each jig head design uses a unique blend of metals tuned for specific performance traits, providing actions and responsiveness that traditional materials can’t match.

3. Are all ARK GENESIS™ jig heads made with Ecoryllium™?

Yes. Every ARK GENESIS™ jig head is made using Ecoryllium™ metal technology, ensuring the same level of performance, durability, and environmental responsibility across the range.

4. Is Ecoryllium™ really 100% lead-free?

Yes. Ecoryllium™ contains zero lead and is completely non-toxic, making it safe for both anglers and the aquatic environments we fish in.

5. What does the name “Ecoryllium” mean?

The name blends “Eco,” highlighting our commitment to protecting aquatic ecosystems, with “-ryllium,” inspired by the strength and brilliance of advanced metals. It represents the fusion of environmental care and high-performance engineering.

6. How is Ecoryllium™ better than lead, pure tungsten, or other materials?

Ecoryllium™ jig heads offer:

  • Better casting control and trajectory
  • Precisely tuned sink rates
  • Unique underwater actions that trigger more strikes
  • No toxicity to fish, wildlife, people, or water
  • Durability without environmental harm

7. Has Ecoryllium™ been tested?

Yes. Each jig head design has been engineered and rigorously tested in collaboration with fishing legends and precision engineers, backed by decades of hands-on fishing experience and real-world field trials.

8. Are Ecoryllium™ jig heads safe to use in sensitive or regulated waters?

Absolutely. Because they are 100% lead-free and non-toxic, Ecoryllium™ jig heads are suitable for use in lead-restricted or conservation-sensitive waterways.

9. Does Ecoryllium™ feel or fish differently from lead?

Yes — in the best way possible. You’ll notice improved sensitivity, sharper feedback, and enhanced control. Each design has been optimised to give anglers a unique performance edge over traditional jig heads.

10. Is Ecoryllium™ available in multiple jig head designs?

Yes. The Ecoryllium™ formulation is customised for each ARK GENESIS™ jig head style, allowing for tailored actions, weight balance, and behaviour that suit different species, techniques, and water conditions.

11. How does the density of Ecoryllium™ compare to other metals used in fishing jig heads?

Ecoryllium™ has a density of *17.5 g/cm³, making it significantly heavier than lead (11.35 g/cm³) and closely approaching tungsten (19.25 g/cm³), the densest common alternative. This high density allows for smaller, more compact jig heads with the same or better weight characteristics, which improves casting distance, sink control, and underwater finesse.

Compared to other metals:

  • Zinc: 7.14 g/cm³
  • Iron: 7.87 g/cm³
  • Nickel: 8.91 g/cm³
  • Cobalt: 8.83 g/cm³
  • Tin: 7.29 g/cm³
  • Aluminium: 2.70 g/cm³

Ecoryllium™ outperforms these lighter materials by maintaining a streamlined profile without sacrificing weight — delivering better action, more precise control, and superior responsiveness in the water. (*Each ARK GENESIS™ model features a slightly different density, precisely tuned to produce its specific in-water action and performance.")

12. How does the specific gravity of Ecoryllium™ compare to lead and tungsten in average ocean water?

Specific gravity measures how dense a material is relative to the liquid it is submerged in — in this case, seawater. It determines how a jig head sinks and behaves underwater.

In average ocean water, which has an average density of approximately 1.025 g/cm³, the effective specific gravity (material density ÷ water density) is 17.07, allowing it to sink rapidly and track predictably — ideal for finesse shallows, deep channels and all current conditions from fast turbulent flow to mirror still.

What does this mean?

Ecoryllium™ jig heads offer more precision, without trade-off's, thanks to their precisely balanced specific gravity.

Compared to tungsten, Ecoryllium™ is slightly less dense, but it provides a more balanced compromise between weight, action, and casting control — while being non-toxic and eco-friendly, unlike tungsten which can have environmental concerns depending on its binding agents.

Higher specific gravity also enables smaller jig profiles with the same weight, making Ecoryllium™ heads more compact, natural-looking, and hydrodynamic.

Whether you're fishing reefs, drop-offs, or coastal structures along the coast, Ecoryllium™ delivers superior underwater performance and environmental peace of mind.

13. How does the specific gravity of Ecoryllium™ compare to lead and tungsten in freshwater?

Specific gravity measures how much denser a material is than the fluid it’s in. In freshwater, which has an average density of 1.000 g/cm³, specific gravity values align directly with each material’s density.

What does this mean for fishing in freshwater?

Ecoryllium™ provides a much higher specific gravity than lead, meaning it sinks faster and holds its line better in current — critical for precision in freshwater rivers, lakes, and estuaries.

Tungsten remains slightly denser, but Ecoryllium™ offers a more refined action and better balance between weight, casting feel, and lure control — while being 100% non-toxic and eco-safe, unlike some tungsten alloys.

The increased density of Ecoryllium™ allows smaller, more compact jig heads with the same effectiveness, giving fish fewer cues to detect and refuse.

In freshwater applications, Ecoryllium™ offers superior performance, sensitivity, and environmental safety — making it an ideal choice for eco-conscious anglers who won’t compromise on results.

14. Why do the keeper spikes on some ARK GENESIS™ jig heads look like a different metal?

Great observation — and it’s no accident.

On some ARK GENESIS™ jig heads, features like the keeper spikes (which secures soft plastics) or distinct metallic stripes (such as those on the Tournament Series) may appear visually different from the rest of the jig head body. This is due to the precise engineering behind our Ecoryllium™ system.

These components are made using purpose-specific variations of the Ecoryllium™ alloy or may be finished differently to create contrasting densities, structural behaviours, or balance points. These differences are intentional and essential to achieving each model’s unique underwater action, fall rate, and performance.

In short:

The keeper spikes are designed to firmly grip soft plastic baits without tearing them, and may use a slightly altered formulation or surface treatment to improve grip and durability.

Stripes or contrasting zones, such as those seen on the Tournament Series, are often used to strategically adjust the centre of mass, hydrodynamics, or vibration feedback, producing highly tuned and repeatable performance.

Every ARK GENESIS™ jig head is a result of careful balance between aesthetics, material science, and fishing function — and every visual detail serves a purpose in delivering elite-level performance.

15. How durable are ARK GENESIS™ jig heads — and why does that matter when fighting fish?

ARK GENESIS™ jig heads, built with Ecoryllium, are engineered to be exceptionally strong, scratch-resistant, and nearly indestructible — and this goes far beyond cosmetic benefits.

Traditional lead jig heads are soft and prone to denting or “cratering” when hit by powerful, toothy species like bream, snapper, or flathead. These moon-like craters may seem harmless, but they can seriously affect your hook-up rate. When a fish’s teeth bite into soft lead, the jig head can lodge in place, preventing the hook from sliding or pivoting into position — meaning the fish can crush the jig and spit it without ever being hooked.

Ecoryllium™, by contrast, has a far higher hardness and structural integrity than lead. This means:

  • No cratering under bite pressure
  • Smoother hook travel on the strike
  • Higher hook-up conversion rates, especially with tough-mouthed or strike-and-spit species
  • Longer-lasting jig heads that maintain shape, action, and performance over many sessions

This principle is similar to what offshore anglers observed with toothy predators like wahoo — who could crush and spit timber lures, but not metal ones. The harder material allowed hooks to slide and find the corner of the jaw, rather than being clamped and stuck.

So, when we say ARK GENESIS™ jig heads are built to last, we mean it — and we’re not just protecting the jig. We’re protecting the hook-up.

16. What is the coloured material around the hook on my Atlas Stone jig head?

The coloured compound you see is a non-toxic, high-performance liquid weld used to reinforce the connection between the jig head and hook.

Unlike traditional molten casting methods, which can deform or weaken hooks due to exposure to temperatures exceeding 1000°C, our proprietary Ecoryllium™ forging process uses extreme heat to achieve near-indestructible durability. However, this requires us to join the hook and head using a precision-engineered method that protects the hook's integrity.

The coloured weld compound ensures:

  • Maximum strength at the hook-body join
  • Durability under repeated stress
  • Long-lasting stability in saltwater and freshwater conditions

Rest assured, this material is non-toxic, safe for the environment, and is a key part of delivering the elite performance and reliability anglers expect from ARK GENESIS.
